Hyperlocal News

A clean, friendly website designed to work alongside the annual printed directory rather than compete with it, serving Docklands and Southbank locals and visitors from the same place.

The Challenge

A strong print guide with the website to match

Hyperlocal News is the leading print title across Docklands and Southbank, carrying content, guides and local updates that keep people connected to their community. Alongside it sits an annual printed directory.

The brief was a clean, simple and friendly website that would draw locals and visitors towards local businesses and events, and coordinate properly with the annual directory. The website had to extend the print product and serve two quite different audiences from one place, not sit beside it as a separate digital channel.

The website and the annual printed directory weren't working as one.

Locals and visitors want different things from the same publication.

Local businesses and events needed a clearer route to an audience.

What We Did

Built around the printed guide

We designed the site around dedicated spaces and functions covering the areas of interest the printed guide already covers, so the two products reinforce each other. Flexible feature spaces let the team surface whatever is relevant at the time, and the structure serves locals and visitors without forcing either into the other's experience.
